Run a theme or challenge!

So the new-to-me challenge ended with rather a whimper. There were about a dozen posts for the challenge, so check them out! And if anyone has a few more they were wanting to do for that challenge, feel free to go ahead and post.

Otherwise, back to reccing. Anyone can rec at any time, etc.

Or I'll open the comm up to any type of vid-related challenges or reccing themes that anyone wants to run. Just let me know what challenge or theme you want to run, when and how long, just so you're not overlapping with anyone else. Which you probably won't be. :D Run a theme! It'll be fun! :D?

First of all, thank you for coordinating things. I've been lurking and basking in the recs, but not very active (sorry).

To make up for it, I'd be interested in helping out with some sort of fake-trailers type theme as I know several people who enjoy them and I don't typically see a lot of noise made about them.


Another theme idea that might be fun in January is festivids recs prior to reveals. Don't they do something like that for yuletide or is that the official yuletide that does that?

IKR! I could probably make a dozen recs myself on this theme ---- I'll have to restrain myself. ;p

Ah well, I haven't done much but make a few posts and then be negligent myself about reccing! :) A fake-trailers theme sounds awesome! You can basically just announce that it as a theme exists, and how long it'll run for (or I can, if you'd rather! And I'll keep an eye out for necessary tagging) If there's anything additional you want to do as part of the theme, during or after, have at it!

And festivids recs is probably a workable thing too. I don't think the festivids comm itself does anything like that? Though they may put up a post for people to link their recs lists, which I think a lot of people do put together? But this is the first year I've properly done it, so I'm not sure how it all happens.

Re: festivids, I only recall seeing recs on my flist and not in the comm itself, but haven't really looked into it, TBH. If they do a post where people can link their recs, it makes more sense to do it there.

I'll keep an eye out for what the deal is with recs at festivids, b/c that's a good idea if it doesn't happen at the official comm already!

d'oh! Every time I saw a new vid I loved, I'd think, "I should post this in the New-to-Me Challenge." Then I'd forget, and some time would pass, and I'd watch the vid a few more times and then it wouldn't be new-to-me anymore. OK, I know it would have been fine to still post the rec -- I was probably using that as an excuse more than anything.

(A lot of them were also vids that I figured most anyone who's been in vidding fandom for more than a year or so would know about.)

Anyway, thanks for putting it together -- it was fun!
